Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launches the national artificial intelligence office today, with the aim to position Malaysia as a regional AI hub.

Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim ketika majlis peluncuran National AI Office berkata tunjang masa depan dunia ialah ekonomi digital.

"Kita jangka, dengan tahap kelajuan dan kepantasan begini (KDNK) akan meningkat kepada 25.5 peratus," jelas PM.

"Siapa pun yang terjejas dalam isu pengiktirafan ini boleh dipertimbangkan semula sejurus untuk didaftarkan dalam National Specialist Register (NSR), Majlis Perubatan Malaysia selepas akta ini (Akta Perubatan) dikuat kuasa setelah pindaan peraturan-peraturan perubatan dimuktamadkan," jelas Menteri Kesihatan Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad kepada Parlimen.

Jelasnya, kementerian pula perlu mengambil pandangan semua pihak berkaitan bagi memastikan proses yang diperkemaskan adalah praktikal dan selari dengan tuntutan undang-undang.

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Malaysia are a growing burden on the health system, with a number of associated health issues and economic costs.

The annual cost of healthcare for NCDs is estimated to be over RM 9.65 billion. Meanwhile, the cost of disability and loss of healthy life years is estimated to be around RM 100.79 billion. Absenteeism due to NCDs is estimated to cost the Malaysian economy RM 2.6 billion annually.

From the common NCDs, obesity is one of THE most significant health threats, with nearly 20% of the Malaysian population currently classified as obese.

Additionally, more than half of all adults (54%) are overweight or obese. According to the World Obesity Atlas, this figure could rise to 41% in Malaysia by 2035, if preventive action is not taken.

The Urban Redevelopment Act (URA) is a proposed law that aims to revitalise cities by improving infrastructure, urban living quality, and the safety of older buildings in Malaysia.
